First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who took the time out to visit my GoFundMePage. Just by visiting, you are showing your love and support for my goal of becoming the next Miss New York Teen USA 2018. For some of you that may not know me on a personal level, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself so you are more familiar with who I am and what I'm trying to achieve.
About Me
My name is Saige Christina Guerin and I was born in Staten Island, NY. I am 17 years old and also the 2nd youngest of 6 children. This year I am a High School Senior and will be graduating from Petrides H.S. in June 2018. Through the years, my goals in high school varied but the two career choices that intrigued me the most was becoming a make-up artist and a traveling nurse. The reason why I was always drawn to the artistry of make-up was because I truly love helping people find their true beauty both internally and externally. My other option was to pursue a career as a traveling nurse. The gratification of traveling to help ill people from all walks of life, that are not fortunate enough to take care of themselves. This was something that inspired me to want to become part of the solution and eliminate some of the problems.
The Introduction
So, since I gave you a brief summary of who I am and what my goals are after high school, please allow me to elaborate on how and why I started this journey. As most people know especially our parents, every child aspires to want to be a fictional or sometimes an unrealistic character, but what's a child without a vivid imagination. Deep down inside I always really wanted to be a model but I didn't have the confidence. Until one day over the summer, a friend of mine who was in cosmetology school for make-up in New York City needed a stand in model and asked me to help her out. I knew that if this was something that I wanted to pursue, it was the perfect opportunity to indulge what it would actually be like to be a model. A few weeks passed by, and some of the other girls asked me to model for them from the school because they were very impressed with my first shoot. The excitement made me more driven and determined to pursue my dream to not only be a model but a role model as well.
The Outcome
I was patiently waiting all weekend because I was supposed to receive an answer within 24 hours and I'm not going to lie, the anticipation was killing me and I drove my mom crazy trying to see if she received the email or not. I already prepared myself mentally by this time that I didn't get accepted to participate in the pageant. But my mom and siblings were still my biggest fans and support, most importantly reminding me that "Without failure, there could be no success." And then it came, Monday afternoon on October 23, 2017. CONGRATULATIONS! You have been selected as an Official Contestant in the 2018 Miss New York Teen USA on January 12-14, 2018.
