Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre (South Yorkshire) Limited and every donation will help.
My wife, Joanne Younge, developed Relapse Remitting Multiple Sclerosis in 2017. For over two years, until stabilised (to a degree) with the right medication, the condition was highly active and has left Jo with extensive, permanent nerve damage throughout her body. This damage dramatically affects Jo's day to day life (24/7) and the stark reality is that it is likely the condition will lead to further deterioration of her nervous system in the future.
Alongside the exemplary treatment Jo has received from the MS team at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, Jo visits the South Yorkshire MS Centre in Catcliffe, close to where we live (the centre is currently closed due to COVID-19).
The centre is a registered charity and non profit organisation that provides therapies and alternative treatments to help those with MS and other neurological conditions. The treatments that are provided are not readily available on the NHS and include include oxygen therapy, physiotherapy, osteopathy, complementary therapies and iMRS which is a Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy used along with iSLRS (an integrated sound, light and relaxation system).
MS has had a huge impact on Jo, both physically and mentally. As someone who does not have MS, it is incredibly difficult, nigh on impossible, to imagine what my wife experiences on a daily basis. Jo will always have my unwavering admiration for getting out of bed every day, and getting on with life in an unrelentingly positive way.
The staff at the centre and the services they provide have been of enormous benefit to my wife and I will be forever indebted to them.
On 26th September 2021, I will be running in the ASDA Foundation Sheffield Half Marathon to raise money for the centre.
