Patrick's Hope for Independence

For those of you that know me, I'm sure you will agree that I am attempting something that is completely unlike me. I have come to this decision not for me, but for my son, Patrick. I believe I am doing what a responsible and loving mother would do to help her special needs son become self-sufficient, as I will not be around forever to assist him. If I had the means to accomplish this without reaching out to others I would, however I work as much and as many hours as possible at a modest wage at a job for which I am most grateful.
Patrick will be 28 years old on New Year's Day. As most of you know, Patrick has an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. He has endured an extreme amount of challenges within his life and has also accomplished many goals, some that we were told he would never reach. He has been working for Kroger for almost five years. He started as a bagger and worked very hard at earning a position as a cashier.
Patrick has remarkable ambition and drive to persevere. He has been practicing his driving skills for years. He and I feel that he is very close to finally taking his road test. Patrick wants desperately to be independent and live on his own, and frankly, I know he will have to accomplish these things while I'm here. His two brothers, Brian and Kevin, would also be delighted for him to be able to have a place of his own. Patrick spends very little of his money, as he has been trying so hard to save all that he makes for a place of his own.
Over the past two years, I have been working with Patrick and doing extensive research on how to help him move out and live independently. I have considered many options and prayed long and hard about this. I have found a condominium that I believe would be a perfect fit for him. This condo is very close to our home and is also located directly across the street from the office where I work. This is ideal and would enable me to help him learn and transition into this next phase of his life. It is also within walking distance to Kroger and in a safe community. The price of the condo is also reflective of the fact that it needs a lot of work and appliances.
My plea is simple, but difficult to ask for. Everything Patrick has saved so far gives him just barely enough to get him into this condo. If you feel like this may be a cause that you would be willing to donate to, our gratitude would be endless. The money would be used for the down payment and other expenses to make this condo livable. Increasing the amount that he can put down would help greatly to reduce his monthly mortgage payment to an amount that he can afford on his salary at Kroger. Receiving financial assistance from others to help him get into this condo would drastically make a difference in Patrick's life and help provide for his future.
