My dad started working at age 13, right around the time his father passed away from lung cancer. He has continued to work ever since then. When I say he is a hard worker, I am not just saying it because he is my father. You can ask anyone that knows him. He has always been there for anyone who needed him, whether he knew you or he didnt. I have no doubt if you called him needing his help, he would be there for you even now.
After my Mom made my Dad go to the Doctor for a persistant cough, He was diagnosed with lung cancer. A lot of details are still being figured out but I remain positive and hopeful that they caught it soon enough and that whatever treatment he may need will be successful.
Since discovering this it has been an uphill battle to even answer some of our basic questions. His first bronchostomy was unsuccessful so we had to wait for approval for a PET scan. After the PET scan he had another bronchostomy which we thought was more successful but due to heavy bleeding and coughing up a lot of blood, he was taken to the ER. We thought all was going well until after the third bronchostomy he was in the ICU. We then had him transferred to Pittsburgh where we hope we can get to the bottom of the excessive bleeding, get a type and stage of his cancer, and make a plan for treatment. As of right now, the tumor is inoperable. Once we have have a better diagnosis and more information I will be making more updates to this page.
I am asking for donations for my parents because right now, they do not have an income and they won't for some time. Medical bills are already starting to come in on top of bills they already have and living expenses. One of my dad's major concerns was missing work and being unable to provide for his family (I still have a sibling in high school who lives at home with my mom and dad). Your donations will help releave the burden on both my parents and help my dad to relax and focus on treatment and recovery.
