Kilts, Castles, and Celtic Cultures!

My Biology teacher, a pretty cool guy really, has this one favorite saying of his: "If ya ain't Dutch, ya ain't much." Oh good sir, I'd like to say, This is where you're mistaken! You see, Holland is merely a part of the Netherlands "“ I've got all the United Kingdom running through my blood; English, Irish, and Scottish. I've got the worlds most renowned castles, tallest Ferris wheels, peat fields and "ceili," sea monsters, giants, witchcraft and wizardry, and very importantly "“ beautiful scenery!!

Mr. Biology, I think I've got you beat.

As of June 10th, I will be on my way to discovering more about my history, and effectually about my ancestors, on the Celtic Cultures excursion through England, Ireland, Wales, and Scotland! My great-great-grandfather, whose last name was a very Irish-sounding Hazel, made his way to the United States from his hometown in Ireland; I've got Irish running out my ears, as my dad would say. Thus, I cannot deny my inner leprechaun "“ I am positively dying to suck up all of Ireland with every sense I came equipped with: smell the fresh peaty air, taste all the ways of cooking a potato (I think Ireland has that one down pat), see the greenery and cozy architecture, hear all kinds of traditional music, and feel the very walls of cultural ignorance crumble beneath my fingertips. Cahersiveen, Ireland (approximately Day ten) will provide me with a hands-on way of experiencing all of this, and a way to give back to the land that bore my ancestors.

But it all comes with a price tag; $7,400 includes trip preparation, transportation, food native to each stop, and all of the activities. I daresay the itinerary is pretty unique, complete with stops all over England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, where we'll dedicate a day to the community. Granted, it means raising a grand amount of moolah, but I am determined to get across the borders into places I've never been, and get firsthand accounts from people who've experienced life as they know it, not as I know it.

Many thanks upfront for reading this, and understanding how important my goal is to my future. Every bit of help is another step -- and I only need 148 fifty-dollar steps to reach that goal! Now, I thank you in advance for your financial and moral support... Thank you :)
