Harold's Heroes

WHY DOES HAROLD NEED HEROES?

On October 8th, 2013, our cat Harold was parted from his painfully lame rear leg. While tests have not revealed a definitive diagnosis yet, it is assumed that he has cancer. Regardless of the exact diagnosis, he saw three vets, with whom we reviewed x-rays, lab work, and options, and we all agreed that the offending limb should be amputated. The bone and tissue was biopsied and is out for testing. We'll proceed with additional treatment from there, if necessary. Hopefully it's NOT necessary to treat further, but we'll keep you posted.

COSTS:

Pre-Op Diagnostics (consults, x-rays, blood work) - $1,055.00
Surgery (amputation, biopsy, meds) - $2,056.00

BECOME HAROLD'S HERO (AND OURS, TOO)!

We are committed to Harold for the whole of his life. The funds we're raising will help pay his medical expenses, easing the debt load so that we can meet further challenges as they arise with Harold and our other two cats, Claude and Spiderman.

If you are able to donate, please do! Any amount helps. If you are unable to donate, consider passing us along to folks who might. Words of encouragement for Harold (and us) are always welcomed from anyone. If you are not comfortable donating online, please contact us.

WHAT IF WE DON'T MEET THE GOAL?

Whatever we are able to raise will go to defray Harold's expenses regardless of whether we meet the goal. This is not an All-Or-Nothing campaign.

WHAT IF WE RAISE EXTRA FUNDS?

If we raise more than the cost of treatment, remaining monies will be donated to The Bubba Foundation, a Burlington, VT based non-profit dedicated to providing loans to pet owners facing medical emergencies. No one should have to choose between life-saving treatment and money.

HAROLD'S STORY

Ten years ago on October 20th I was asked if I would be interested in fostering a pair of abandoned adult Persian cats. These two neglected, crusty-matted, sweet & funny cats became mine on sight.

I named them Harold and Maude for my favorite movie. Harold, was completely matted to the skin, including one the size of a softball under his chin that forced his head at an angle. Maude was also horribly matted, so much so that after having them both shaved we learned that Maude was, in fact, a Claude.

A year later, my partner, Brian, and I combined households and Harold, Claude, his cat Spiderman, and we humans became the family we are today.

We learned about The Bubba Foundation, as most do, via word of mouth. Claude needed eye surgery shortly after I adopted him. I couldn't afford it but a friend who had received Bubba funds got me in touch. I have been grateful to them ever since!

LEGIT?

Please feel free to check in with our vets, they'll be happy to tell you that we and the procedure are all real!
