My Trip To Ghana

Hello everyone! My name is Tinisha Brown and I am a student at The Ohio State University. I'm 20 years old and a third year as a Buckeye! My major is Pre-Medicine Neuroscience, with a minor in Forensic Science. After my years as an undergrad, I plan to go to medical school to pursue a medical degree. What kind of doctor do I want to be? I honestly have no clue, but I intend to work hard to do something I am passionate about.


I have experience volunteering in many different communities (Columbus and Springfield) through organizations I have been involved with. I have volunteered at the Wexner Medical Center on The Ohio State University's campus as an ambassador and an ER assistant. I have volunteered in food pantries and raised awareness and funds for different causes. I tutored children last year, specifically children that could not read and write as well as they should have for their age. BUT, I am looking for something more. That is where this page really comes in.


A couple of days ago, I realized that I wanted to do something that is bigger than myself. I wanted to leave a legacy. I wanted to leave a footprint in people's hearts. So, I have this awesome opportunity to go to Ghana in June 2014 for 3 weeks. But, I need your help. The funds for the trip are not cheap. Your donation will go towards the costs of the flight to Ghana, and back to the United States. The donation will also aid in paying registration fees, program fees (food and housing in Ghana), vaccinations, background check, and a passport.



Traveling across the world has been a dream of mine ever since I was a little girl. I have never had the opportunity or funds to travel abroad, but this time around, I am trying to make it happen. If I can travel and give to those in need, what can be better than that?

Next summer is the only time I will be able to travel abroad due to the hectic schedule of my senior year. I am motivated to take this adventure next summer. Not only am I wanting to go to Ghana to teach the children how to read or write, but I want to learn from them as well. I have something to learn from them. My reasons for going on this trip is beyond the expression of words. To meet new people. To give to others. To grow as a person. To grow as a leader. To leave footprints in the hearts of the children. To lend a helping hand. To learn.

The experience is one in a lifetime. I can not do it alone. So, if you can donate any money towards this dream of mine... I would be forever grateful. Your money is not only benefiting myself to be able to go on this trip, but also, you are helping the people of Ghana too! This trip will be my first out of the country. This trip will be the first time I see the ocean. This trip will be the first time on a plane. And, most importantly, this trip will be the first time I get to do something AMAZING. I get to help people who are having a hard time making it from day to day. I get to see another part of the world that many people do not get the chance to witness. I get to be a friend. A teacher. A role model. A member of a family. And, if I can raise the funds to go--- It's GHANA be AWESOME.
