Help Feed The Stray Cats Of Paphos

Donation protected

UPDATE 8/11/17:

I write this on my way to Paphos Airport, feeling a mixture of sadness to leave this beautiful sunny land, and incredibly positive and grateful. Thank you to you all - those who have read this, those who have donated, those who have publicised the story, those who have shared with friends or colleagues or anyone at all. Thanks to you all, we have smashed our original target of £250 in less than 24 hours. So I have upped it! I met Gaynor briefly this afternoon to pass on some donated cat food. In her own words she is not very "dot com savvy", but she like I is incredibly touched, grateful and overwhelmed by the suddenness with which this has all happened and the incredible donations from so many people. Thank you all, more than I can say. Please, please keep sharing our page so we can raise even more money for our wonderful cat lady of Paphos. My own rescue furries Skye and Sunday await my return home!

Gaynor Georgiou, age 72, feeds 160 stray cats in Paphos everyday. She does this come rain or shine, and almost entirely out of her own pocket. Most of her pension and savings goes on wet and dry food and feline veterinary care. She does her best to manage the number of stray cats by neutering when she can afford to. Apart from an extra pair of hands one day a week, and occasional donations, Gaynor takes this all on herself in terms of both the financial impact and the time and practicalities of doing so.

What used to take 2 hours now takes 4-5 due to the growing number of cats despite neutering, and Gaynor's advancing age. Gaynor has been helping the cats of Paphos nearly as long as I have been alive. We visited Gaynor feeding the cats this morning and donated food and money. As she hurried off to another location, her old 206 loaded with bowls, tins of food and antiseptic wipes, we stayed behind to stroke some of the lingering friendly felines. It felt like we could do more, should do more.

Gaynor has dedicated nearly 30 years and immeasurable funds to the cats of Paphos. Every month almost all her money goes on these cats. She knows them, gives them names, knows if one is ill. With recent roadworks in their usual habitat, she has lost 6 of her eldest cats. So I wonder if we can't use crowdfunding to help Gaynor out, to raise some money to help her in her selfless daily mission and lifetime's work. You may not be able or feel you wish to give much, but anything helps. I know how much 2 cats cost me at home; I can't imagine financing 160. Please give what you can to help this wonderful, gentle, caring woman continue her selfless work.
