Julie McRae Needs Our Help

We’ve all known Julie as our “bendy” friend who could touch her nose with her tongue. She’s always had a positive and bubbly spirit. Little did anyone know that these were signs of a disease that would affect her for the rest of her life and shorten her days of strength and comfort. Julie was diagnosed with Type 3 Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) in 2008 and has suffered from Macular Dystrophy her whole life with an extreme progression after Allison was born. Due to the Macular Dystrophy, Julie is no longer able to drive at night and on highways. Her vision is failing more everyday and she will continue to lose sight until complete blindness. The EDS has caused constant pain and exhaustion. Julie hurts so bad that she is unable to sleep. It’s hard for her to sit or stand for long periods of time. She has to wear bulky braces on her knee and thumb for now, just to keep her bones and joints in place. Her hips, jaw, fingers, shoulders, and other joints dislocate all the time. Julie has had 20 surgeries as of August 2016. This disease does not have a positive outcome. Due to all of this, Julie is not able to work many hours making it difficult to help support her family, pay for medical bills and contribute to the household income to pay bills. Please find it in your hearts and souls to help Julie and her family gain some relief from the overwhelming stress of bills. Every penny helps in this type of situation and community is the only way to make a difference.
