Help with rent and food
My appeal to get student loans was rejected, and social security refused to help me because I'm a student and have a small company for my webcomics (according to their rules neither company owners nor students are elligible for help). Both these rejections came at the time my bills were due and my accounts empty. While I can appeal the decision of social security, I still need to pay my landlord and others _now_ (when I write this I'm close to a week late with payments). According to social security I should quit my studies, put the company on hibernation, and get on the dole. This would mean I and my son would lose our home, since I live in student housing. And I'd love to get a job, but I have a disadvantage; I have aspergers syndrome, which makes it hard for me to pass a job interview. Through my life I've gotten most of my jobs from people who knows me well, and know I function despite being awkward socially. One of the big reasons I returned to university was to get new contacts of that kind - getting a job through the ordinary application process is close to impossible for me. This process has taken the better part of the fall semester, and it's starting to wear on me. Worse though, is to see my twelve year old son worry over our situation. He still has a home with his dad, but I feel he's too young to face the threat of having his mother end up on the street. These money will keep me afloat while I deal with the most acute problems, and give me some time to breathe so I can figure out what to do in the long run. There's probably not a quick fix to this, but hopefully I can find a way to stay alive and under a roof.
