Help With Steven’s Medical Expenses

On Friday, October 27, 2017, the Cornelius family received devastating news that their 6 year old son Steven had a mass on his brain. He was immediately transferred by ambulance to The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. After undergoing further testing including a MRI, it was determined that surgery to remove the mass was the best course of action. Steven had an operation on November 1, 2017, that went very well and successfully removed the mass on his brain. As of today, November 4, Steven remains in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit as he begins his road to recovery.

His mother Toni (Fairbanks) Cornelius provided this update: Steven was struggling with maintaining his oxygen levels and responsiveness following his surgery, but today his oxygen levels and breathing is much better. He has been more awake than he has been since surgery on Wednesday. They did put a feeding tube in today, because he needed more nutrients than his IV bag can give him. He had a good visit from a dear friend of mine that brought her service dog. Steven was petting it with his toes and had his eyes pretty open the whole time he was in there. We keep weaning him off of the oxygen little by little in hopes that we will be able to get out of ICU soon. Again thank you for your prayers. Love you all.

Toni has been a dear friend of mine since we were 13 years old. Her family has a long road ahead of them filled with uncertainty as they wait for pathology to come back on the mass so that a treatment plan can be made for Steven. In the meantime, they are 150 miles from home and putting their lives on hold to give all their attention to their little boy as he continues his fight.
