Surviving Cancer

My lucky Unicorn After more than a year of being extremely unwell, I was finally diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to my liver. When you are told by a doctor that you have 1-2 months to live, at best, it can only be described as numbing. Watching my husband and children scramble around the medical team for any hope was the most heartbreaking experience I've ever had. After a week in hospital, I discharged myself and went home for my last Christmas. I had nine tumours on my liver, the largest the size of a grapefruit, leaving me with only 20% functioning, and the tumours on my colon ready to cause a blockage at any moment. I have looked death in the eyes twice since then and I have suffered so much pain that I just wanted to close my eyes and not open them again. My will to live is strong and somehow I pulled through those times. As we are approaching Christmas 2017 and I'm still here, my alternative treatments are at least holding the tumours stable. None of my treatments are covered by Medicare and we have spent in excess of $80,000. I am afraid now that I can't afford to continue my treatments. Donations of any amount will be gratefully accepted and I thank you in advance from myself, my husband, children, grandchildren and extended family who would love to keep me here with them. All of these people have given so much in so many ways. I will never be able to thank my husband enough for doing everything and my youngest daughter who have both borne the brunt of this terrible illness by looking after me.
