Jimmys Medical And Recovery Fund

On June 14th, Jimmy went in for a routine colonoscopy and then the unthinkable happened. They found a tumor. A few weeks later, after pet scans and many consults, Jimmy was officially diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer. We were all scared, stunned and mostly heart broken. He has now already underwent 6 weeks @5 days a week of chemo and radiation. The last week or so of chemo and radiation really took a toll on him and he was officially placed on “short term” disability with his job. Jimmy is the hardest working man I know and the last thing he wants to do is ask for help. He’s a man who truly is the rock of our family. He is kind and caring. He is strong and positive. He finds the silver lining in every situation. He truly is the the glue that keeps us together when we feel like falling apart. As I sit here writing this today, Denise (wife), Joel (son) and I (daughter in law) are sitting in Moffitt’s cancer hospital in Tampa, FL waiting for Jimmy to come out of surgery. They are very hopeful that Jimmy will beat this. He will have some challenges ahead however. There is 6 months more of chemo and also a “reversal” surgery after chemo has finished. On top of this he will also have thyroid surgery in March. (Another mass found on the thyroid during pet scan) We aren’t exactly sure what the time limit or order all of this will happen in. We are given an idea but depending on his healing and other factors will determine when he can return to work. We know Jimmy would never ask for help from others, that’s why we are instead. Jimmy has spent his entire life providing for his family. He truly is an amazing husband, father, papa and friend. All Joel and I would like to be able to do is help ease some of the financial expenses incurred during this very lengthy process and recovery.Anything will help. We appreciate the time you have taken to read this, donate and/ or sharing. We will update you all later after his surgery and let you know how it went. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Joel and Ashley Lafortune
