August 27, 2017 Jeff was admitted to the hospital for complications of a gallbladder surgery. He was told by his doctor that he could not work as he had a drain in. Jeff did not go back to work until October 23rd and he went back without having any time left. We have now found out that the drain has to stay in until he has another surgery to fix the problem which we are trying to hold off on until Tyler is better. Then we got hit with the worst news any parent could receive. On October 14, 2017 our 19 year old son Tyler was diagnosed with cancer. After a biopsy it was determined that he has a Rhabdomyosarcoma in his pelvis. It is an aggressive, pediatric cancer. We were lucky enough to get him in with an oncologist at AI DuPont Hospital for Children who treats this specific cancer. After extensive testing he will have aggressive chemo therapy weekly for a year. He will be required to stay in the hospital every 4th week. In between he will have a major surgery to remove it and 6 weeks of daily radiation therapy at CHOP in Philadelphia. We need to be able to spend as much time with Tyler as possible but it’s very hard with Jeff not getting paid when he takes off. This will help offset any costs so that we can spend as much time with Tyler as we can. Thank you!!!
