A note from Mom:

To Whom it May Concern,

I am a 90-year-old widow with Social Security as my only income. I was hospitalized in 2019 for a near fatal pyelonephritis. I had a stent placed in my urethra (the tube rom the kidney to the bladder), which has to be replaced every 6-9 months for the rest of my life.

I’ve had breast cancer twice and had two mastectomies. I am a survivor. I had a burst appendix, peritonitis, a pulmonary embolism, plus pneumonia, and pleurisy all at the same time after my husband’s death in 2005. I’ve been advised that I have the onset of macular degeneration and two wrinkled retinas in my eyes. With having had knee surgeries, two hernia surgeries, plus a hysterectomy, and two stents in my heart arteries. I’ve been through an awful lot in my long life.

I’m writing this as I need your help. 

My home is in desperate need of repairs. The roof needs to be replaced; it is leaking through the 2nd floor ceilings in quite a few places. This has caused the walls in my full bathroom to fall, I have plastic taped to the wall to try to prevent any further damage, but the water has leaked through to the kitchen & dinette ceiling, coming through a closet which has caused wood rot to the floor as well.

My home once filled with my four children & so much love is falling apart, and becoming inhabitable. I find there are too many repairs for me to handle on my small income from Social Security. I owe money to the hospitals from my recent illness, as well as many other debts.  I’ve been told these repairs would average about $75,000. Roof, rebuilding the bathroom from top to bottom, replacing ceilings, walls, and flooring, not to mention the roof, mold damage, and who know what else will be found once we open that can of worms.

 Any help you can offer is truly appreciated.
