Gohar Family High School Fund

In December 2013, this wonderful family was forced to leave their home in Pakistan as refugees from religious persecution. For three years, they have been living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where they have been awaiting refugee status and the ability to finally settle into a new home and life. In the interim, they have been dependent on charity from others and any income that their children can provide due to their lack of legal status. Put on hold have been many important desires for their family, not the least of which is a good education. There is not an appropriate educational venue for the Gohar children in Kuala Lumpur and so they have gone three years without progress in this regard.

Anybody who has met the Gohar family has instantly been drawn in by their large hearts and remarkably positive outlook on life. Many of us have done what we can to help them and have been a great blessing. We all wish that we could get them refugee status somewhere, give them permission to become members of the church that they have desired to join, provide them with employment opportunities, or maybe just take them home with us so that we can be blessed by their association (that's not just me, right?). But there is one way that we can help them right now.

Through working with the Gohars, we have found a highly accredited correspondence high school that they can attend and work through at their own pace. It follows the American high school curriculum and will provide them with an American high school transcript to present to universities upon completion. David, Anil, and Rose (the three high-school-aged children) are very anxious to be able to move forward in this arena in their lives and feel that this is the perfect venue. Tuition for this program is very affordable at $1,000 per school year.  For now, we will fund raise just for the first year.  When David, Anil and Rose are ready to advance, we will do another fundraising campaign.

This doesn't need to be paid all upfront -- it is paid at the beginning of each year. Please consider donating to help them enroll and begin to progress in their educations. This campaign will be left open until sufficient funds are raised to cover the cost of the four years and, since it's a four year program, please feel free to come back and donate as often as you like until we've reached our goal!
