I need help getting another vehicle

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Doug. I am 53 years old and disabled. This is very hard for me to do because I am usually the one helping someone else, and have a hard time asking for anything for myself.  However, recent circumstances have left me no alternative.

Wrecked my car back in the beginning of January because the front CV axle and lower control arm broke, which made the car uncontrollable and ran off the road into a ditch. The accident happened in front of a friend's house, and he and his brother helped me pull the car out and into his yard. I didn't have the money for a tow truck at the time, and my friend said that I could leave the car there and he would help me fix it. He wanted to help me because I had helped him several months earlier by giving him a place to stay until he got on his feet again, and he said this was his way of paying me back since I wouldn't take money from him while he was staying at my house trying to get back on his feet.

He worked out of town a lot, so only had a little time on weekends to work on the car. I didn't expect him to pay for everything either, and with me being disabled and on disability, I haven't had much money to help out with. I only had liability insurance, so it didn't cover fixing the car.  After paying all of my bills at the beginning of March, I had enough left over to buy the new CV axle. I contacted him and told him so, and he said that he would be home that Saturday and would call me and arrange to come get me, go get the part and work on the car. That was the last time I heard from him. After 2 weeks of trying to get ahold of him, I found out that he was in jail. I made arrangements to go check on my car, and it was GONE! Someone had stolen it. I reported it to the Sheriff's Office, but they have not been able to locate it yet.

I have been relying on my elderly parents, my sister, and my cousin for the past 3 months just to get me to my monthly doctor's appointment, which is a 120 mile round trip, get prescriptions filled and to go grocery shopping or do anything else I need to do.

Being on disability, it is very hard to get a loan, and I have no savings. My neighbor has a small, economical car for sale that I can get for $2,000. I am not just jumping at the first thing I see. I *know* this is a good, reliable vehicle. He is trying to hold it for me, but needs to sell it. It won't last long once it's on the open market. I can't keep relying on my family to take me everywhere and need to have my own vehicle again.

I set my goal at $2,500 to help offset the fees for this campaign, and maybe have a little left over to help me with tag & taxes.

Thank you for reading, and any help is greatly appreciated. I WILL pay it forward once I am back on my feet.
