Joe's Walk MS Shirts and Donations

On January 4, 2012 Joe was admitted into St. John's hospital for various symptoms that had been worsening since around Thanksgiving 2011. During that time he had visited eye doctors, an eye specialist, Urgent Care, the ER, and a Primary Care Physician all with a different diagnosis (stroke, ear infection, etc.) but still had no relief. At the time of being admitted into the hospital the symptoms were dizziness, nausea, double vision, difficulty swallowing and slurred speech.

The following day, a Neurologist visited with Joe and decided to do an MRI. A few hours later he came back with the news that none of us were expecting - multiple sclerosis. A 26 year old who seemed so healthy just weeks before now had a lifelong illness to deal with.

But those that know Joe, know that he won't let it get him down. He continues to be positive and upbeat even through the pain. Joe is currently going without an MS medication because the one he was prescribed was having adverse affects (storing all his white blood cells in his optic nerve and causing vision problems).

Many people have asked how they can help Joe directly because they feel more comfortable donating to a person and seeing how the money helps. So, we have set our goal at $500 to try to pay for the testing he had done prior to beginning the medication. This includes eye exams and the 6 hours of monitoring he underwent after the first dose. Once we tackle this, we can move on to the other bills and hopefully be able to get him on a new medication!

Thank you for all the love and support!!
