Suzie Dickinson & John Macaulay

Donation protected
My dear friend, Suzie Dickinson and her boyfriend John Macaulay were forced to evacuate their home of only 3 months in Wikiup-Larkfield from the Fire.

On Sunday, October 8th, around 10:30 pm Suzie & John began to hear sirens in their area and after hearing too many they begin to search online to see what was going on. The only online post was from the Sonoma County Sheriff stating that there was a fire in Calistoga. Knowing what had happened in the 1964 fire that started in Calistoga and ended in Santa Rosa Suzie was concerned and phoned her elderly parents to make them aware there was an issue in the area. Suzie and John left their home to go spend the night with her parents just in case something happened. As they drove the 15 minute/5 mile drive it was very apparent that the fire was major as there was so many cars evacuating out of the area. Upon arrival at her parent’s home the hot, dry wind was gusting 40 – 50 mph, ashes were raining down, there was a red glow and flames on the ridge above the home. They hurried their parents out of the house and into their cars.

By the time they made it back to Suzie & John’s home the conditions had deteriorated to match what they had left behind at her parent’s home with the hot winds and blowing ash all over the neighborhood. Within 5 minutes of returning home the lights went out and a fireman was on the doorstep telling them that they had to evacuate right then. They took laptops and Suzie’s moms art work and left in their pajamas. They ended up at St. Joseph’s hospital that night as there was no place to go and the fire was all around them. On Monday afternoon they learned their home and every home on their street had burned to the ground. Her childhood/parent’s home had burned as well.

Suzie and John will rebuild, but will need help to do so. Insurance will go so far and they have learned that it will not cover all the cost to rebuild. Everything moves very slow and it and there are immediate needs.

Please considercontributing to help them recover from this horrible disaster that effected so many in Sonoma & Napa counties. Suzie is one of the sweetest and hardest working people I know and it is difficult for her to ask for help. John is very kind and has helped many people that he has met throughout his life without asking for anything in return. Thank you for reading and helping a fellow "Ursuline Girl" get back on her feet.
