Please Help Support Youth Soccer!

For many kids, participating in youth sports is a matter of privilege. Even for a sport like soccer, where all you need is a ball and open space, the cost of training and competing can be thousands of dollars a year. That's a lot of money for most families, especially for families of modest means and little or no "disposable" income. The Lee Mount Vernon Sports Club (LMVSC) in Alexandria, Virginia provides opportunities for young people, who don't otherwise have the financial means to pay. Unfortunately, even with scholarships and reduced costs provided by club, for some families - it's still not enough to cover all the expenses. So, with all that’s going on in the world, why is helping a kid play soccer important enough to give money. Well, research on youth development is clear; connectivity to a community, school, and, activities dramatically reduces the chances of delinquent behavior, problems in the classroom and conflict with family. Conversely, when there is a connection, young people's chances of success in school and into adulthood are exponential. It's our responsibility to make sure we are doing everything we can to strengthen those community bonds. Your contribution will help us close the funding gap and support a large group of young boys, between 11 and 14 years old, whose families are not in a position to cover all the costs to play and train in a competitive soccer environment.
