Cathy’s Fight Against Cancer

On August 31st Catherine had gallbladder surgical removal, successful surgery no complications. At two weeks post operation Cathy developed some abnormal symptoms, which prompted her to a visit in the emergency room. After several assessments, tests; and an impatient stay in the hospital the problem was found, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Gastric Cancer. She underwent a surgery on September 26th, this surgery was a very serious and complicated operation to remove the tumor site and surrounding areas. Partial gastrectomy and partial esophagectomy is what was performed. Unfortunately, she’s had a few complications while in the hospital recovering post operation after a week and a half. She was put in ICU for two weeks because of a septic illness. As she is still recovering from surgery currently in the hospital, upon discharge we will strive to get healthy, fully recovered, and prepare for several months of chemo and radiation. We will continue to always be hopeful and participate in endless praying for a positive future and defeating this fight against cancer. Because of everything happening in a matter of days, this experience has been very traumatic for not only Cathy but her family who had little to no time to even ‘prepare’. Her family has missed work on several days to be by her side and has never left her alone. They are there tirelessly, yet selflessly. Funds and expenses are among their many worries in result to these very unexpected events. A benefit dinner has been arranged and flyers have been posted on Facebook, the fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday November 4th.
