Nancy Flores Memorial Fund

Hello Friends & Family, Thank you so much for your support for my Mom, me, and my daughters over the past week. My mother, Nancy Flores, went to surgery Friday, October 6, in good spirits - for treatment of colon cancer and a gallbladder infection. Although the surgery was successful, she was not able to be fully revived: her blood pressure dropped and her kidneys shut down. While under sedation, she endured 3 rounds of dialysis, a dynamic balance of different blood pressure meds, all while connected to a ventilator, but was not able to make any progress. She passed away Sunday, October 15. From her nursing home, the nurses, caretaker, and doctors were fond of her and said she was always trying to give back, in the form of getting them snacks, even trying to give them $1 tips! She wanted to let them know she appreciated how hard working they were always around her. She seemed to always try to brighten up their day even when her day wasn’t always going that well. Very much like when we were kids and or friends and family are over - she was always giving us food and snacks and sneaking in bonus money in addition to our allowances! I’ve put together this campaign for those of you who have reached out and wanted to contribute to help with my Mom’s final arrangements towards a forever resting place for her. She has always been giving and I hope you’ll help me amplify my wanting to “give back” to her. With my Dad’s passing in 2004, my younger sister passing in 1992, and my youngest sister not wanting anything to do with Mom anymore in 2009, I’m my mother’s only direct family left from our original family of 5. I know she wanted to be cremated - she hated the thought of being buried, “...with the worms,” she would joke! While she had been using the majority of her and my late Dad’s pensions to cover both the rest home and medical bills, she barely was able to save up enough to cover a direct cremation or even an urn! I will need cover what she was lacking. While I don’t expect to be able to have both a service and cremation at today’s prices, I’m looking to honor at minimum, her final wish to “just go home” - complete her cremation and bring her home to family... me and my daughters. Any additional money raised will be applied towards a memorial gathering, anticipated bills, debts, and other end of life costs. My daughters and I thank you so very much for your contribution, both large and small.
