Shallow Pockets, No Legs #TrueStory

Donation protected

I'd like to introduce you to my little sister, Michelle. If you know her then you love her. If you don't know her then don't worry; you're not a stranger, just a friend she hasn't met yet. That's just who she is: Friendship, love, & one who has a kindness in spirit that can make the coldest of hearts melt. She's a mom, a daughter, a sister, a friend, & a fighter. At the age of 26, Michelle wanted to give to others and donated blood at a local blood drive. Shortly after, she developed a bloot clot in her arm. We all thought it was an isolated incident. At 27, she woke up with her leg hurting. After a visit to the ER, it was discovered that she had a 100% blockage in her left leg-femoral artery. The doctors removed the clot successfully, but the artery kept inflaming and creating new blockages. After 5 years of medication and several procedures, she ultimately had to have a below knee amputation. And now, at 34 and a little over two years after the first amputation, she has had to have her right leg amputated below the knee, as well. The doctors do not know what's causing the clotting or the inflammation. All they can do is treat the symptoms. She is currently in the hospital here in Augusta and will soon be heading to a rehab facility. Shortly after that, the plan is to head to the Mayo Clinic in hopes that the specialists there can discover, diagnose, & treat something that has left other physicians scratching their heads. Right now, I am humbly asking for you to show the same love and support (that Chelle has shown so many others) to her. Being a mom - a single mom to two girls- is tough enough, but now...lifts for wheelchairs, ramps, a vehicle adapted for her, medical bills & the trip, or trips, to Mayo, etc...all of this with shallow pockets and heavy hearts while we are still waiting and hoping that the appeal for denial of disability is rescinded and approved. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated by her, her kids, & her family and friends. If you can't donate we simply ask for you to keep Michelle, her children, and the family in your prayers as they too are greatly needed and appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this & God bless you, Joy
