Rodrigo’s Teeth

If you know me, you probably know how insanely obsessed I am with my beloved 6 year old son(dog) Rodrigo. For the past 4 or so months I have been taking him back and forth to the vet for a lump I found on his neck. I have spent over $1,000 on visits alone with no real answers besides semi ruling out cancer. More recently, I noticed the Rodrigo doesn’t want to play the same way he used to... he seems to constantly be in pain around the mouth area, having trouble breathing and swallowing. Basically, the biggest pig I know wouldn’t even eat the treats I was offering(even human food). I was told about Sacramento Animal Hospital and decided to take him there to get an opinion from another vet. We aspirated the lump again and the cells were once again reactive (not cancerous). She looked in his mouth just like the other veternarians, but this time she found the problem... he has multiple teeth with the roots exposed. His gums have receded almost all the way around his teeth and there are major infections going on in there. I received my quote for a dental and extractions for 1,600 not including blood work or X-rays. I paid for what I could at the time (antibiotics to control the infection and pain meds to keep him comfortable) and made the appointment for the extractions just to hold the opportunity. Unfortunately, time is limited and I need to pay for the surgery before the infections spread to his blood stream or other organs in his body. I love this dog with everything inside of me. He has been with me through the hardest times of my life and I am not ready to lose him. He’s still very young but apparently pugs are notorious for dental disease and other mouth issues. I cannot apply for care credit because of my credit situation. I had to start my life completely over and I am still recovering from something that happened to me two years ago. I am exploring other vets to see if anyone will do the procedure for cheaper or by payment but have found no luck there. My car went to shit about two months ago and I have spent all of my car savings trying to diagnose my dogs illness. I realize that this is a touchy subject and ultimately it is my responsibility to care for my own pet financially, but I am just putting myself out there for the sake of my dogs health and well-being. I appreciate anyone taking the time to read this. All I can really ask is for people to share this post. I don’t expect much but anything is worth a shot at this point. XoXo
