Veronika's Long Awaited Adoption!

Veronika came to me as a 10 day old premature baby weighing only 1lb and 10oz. No one expected her to survive but God had other plans. Many, many people prayed for her and for me, her caregiver. Minute by minute Jesus guided me in caring for her using kangaroo care and feeding her drops of milk with a syringe. Slowly but surely I saw her becoming a little bit bigger and a little bit stronger. Finally one day I knew in my heart this tiny girl was going to make it! Oh what joy to watch her grow and develop! It was a total Jesus story! Unfortunately it didn't work out for her to return to her biological family and so I committed to adopt her as my own daughter. When Veronika was 6 months old I received legal guardianship of her but I was not able to legally adopt her because Haiti's age requirement for single adoptive parents is 35 and I was only 27. I have lived in Haiti with her all these years awaiting the time I can make her legally mine. Meanwhile God brought a wonderful man into our lives as husband and daddy which has changed our situation a bit. We are now able to proceed with the adoption as a couple! And we are doing a national adoption instead of an international which is less complicated and also less expensive. Over the years many people have asked about donating for her adoption but I was hesitant to accept too much until we are actually in process. I did have a savings account for that so we are partially funded but still need a bit more to be fully funded. Veronika is such a miracle and I thank God every day that I get to be a part of it!
