Fred Chalenor Needs A Bit Of Help

Fred was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's almost three years ago. Two weeks ago he suffered a major neurological "event". He had what appeared to me as a layperson to be a stroke or seizure, bit the living daylights out of his tongue, slid to the floor and cracked his sacrum. He was hospitalized for five days then began a stay of 20 days in a skilled memory care nursing facility, as covered by Medicare. His release date is October 18th. After that he is all mine. No more help from Medicare other than physical therapy. Fred has been regaining his strength and with physical therapy has started to take a few tentative steps. I hate to ask for financial help here. Several people suggested I start a GoFundMe account and I was determined not to. So many people are struggling right now...But then yesterday on my way to go hang out with Fred, my van blew a rod. We live way out of town in LaCenter Washington now. I need to be able to get him home and to physical therapy appointments. I need to get him a hospital bed so I can maneuver him without killing my back. I need to modify our bathroom and install handrails throughout our home. I need to carve a driveway up to our front door and bypass the ten stairs up to our one level home.I am willing to drop everything and cash in my investments to care for him full time, but none of that is liquid and these needs are immediate. Any help at all is greatly appreciated. This has been a profoundly humbling experience. Thank you for considering.
