Teaching Teachers In Kenya

I am writing to share the dream of a 13 year old girl. She is brave and scared. She feels compelled to go to Africa as a teacher and missionary to make a difference in the world. Now she is 19, going to college to be a teacher to prepare for her African Dream. She meets someone who whispers doubt about this dream. It’s the first of many disappointments of her letting someone’s whisper change her future life direction. She takes a different path. She gets married, drops out of school, and has two boys. Later in life she goes back to school to finish her degree and start her teaching career in the US. After 14 years of growing in her practice, she takes a new position in her district. She is now coaching and training teachers. The tornado of life sweeps through and tries to destroy her. The shards and remains of the storm leaves shattered dreams: a devastating divorce, life turned upside down, and everything she knew as truth is revealed as lies. She sells the family home, secures her children and moves in with a friend.The dust is settling... Now what?This grown woman feels the tug of the 13 year old dream again. She feels compelled to go to Africa. Now she can go to train teachers. The impact is exponential. Four Kenyan schools are asking her to come to train their staff, coach their teachers, impact the orphans and refugees in these schools and lay groundwork for future opportunity. The grown woman will go to Kenya this summer for 6 weeks to do this work. The dream was not lost but transformed into a better dream:” Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day.
