Our Treasures Back to School

Donation protected
This summer I had the privilege of going to Guatemala  with a group of youth from Hawthorne Gospel Church we were able to serve and help the children in the community of Chiquimula through Potter's House International.  Going to Guatemala I did not know what to expect, but this trip struck me immensely and I left a small part of my heart with the children I met.
I returned with such a burden to help those children. Many of these children in this community wake up in houses made of wood, with tin roofs and floors of dirt, their small bellies hungry, and the smell of garbage in the air.  Because of finances, school is not a priority, many families are not able to send their children to school, they stay at home and help with their siblings or they have to work, many in the city dump.  Many shared how alot of them  won't finish elementary school and much less attend high school, many of them have no hope or dreams of what they want to be when they grow up.
It broke my heart, I just couldn't believe that. When I saw those big eyes looking at mine, I did what I was called to do and that was to love them, give them many hugs and let him know how valuable and intelligent they are and how much they were loved.
For these children, going to go to school is a privilege and this was so strange to me because every child should have the opportunity to go to school, but for them its a great cost. Here, we are almost given the supplies for school, boxes of pencils for $1, crayons for 25¢, notebooks in any color, and if there is a financial difficulty, there are events in communities, churches, organizations that give backpacks full of supplies. We may not have everything we want, but we have what we
need in abundance. Children in Guatemala are not as fortunate as we are.
My mission is to do everything I can to ensure that these children do not have an excuse not to go to school or
that their parents have to go into debt. It is my prayer to raise $5,000 by December 15th and to provide 250 children with supplies for school which for them begins in January. I cannot do this alone and I need your help.
Each donation of $25 will supply a child with supplies for school.  $100 can supply 4 children. Maybe you would like to help out 10 children for $250.
Can I count on your donation?
(Your donation is tax deductible).
If you have any questions, or need more information, please let me know.
Thank you so much for your desire to help me help these children.
