Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. As many of you know Clay's dad David is in our home. About a month ago David called Clay and asked him to come to Florida to get him from his home in the Tampa area. Clay flew out to Tampa to get him before hurricane Irma hit. We knew that he had pneumonia and that he was very sick. We then learned the heartbreaking news that David had stage IV Non Small Cell lung cancer that had spread to his lymp nodes, liver, bones and brain.  The doctors believe that there will only be a few weeks to a month for David to live. This has been a very difficult journey to navigate with mental health issues complicating an already complex diagnosis. We are learning every day that there is no manual for how to do this phase of life.  Clay and I have been primary care givers with the help of Clay's sister for two weeks in September. We are at a point now where just the daily tasks of caring for David and our family are becoming more than we can handle alone. Please pray about ways that you might be able to help us during what we believe to be Davids last few weeks of life. We want to care for him to the best of our abilities and also give our kids the love and care that they need during a very hard time for them. We are trying to generate enough extra income to have someone come to our house a few days a week to care for dave while clay and I work. Any extra money raised will go towards funeral cost. David is a Vietnam Vet. He served our country bravely in the Marines as a teenager. He has Medicare and limited VA benefits which will not cover all of funeral and burial cost.
We will try to give updates daily as we are able. What a blessing to do life with friends and family even when miles separate us. Thankful and humbled.
