I had the PLEASURE of hosting two boys from Uganda in my home for two and a half weeks. And let me tell you, it was a life changing experience! These two boys, William and Ivan, are members in the Imani Milele Children's Choir. They are here in the United States to bring awareness of the orphaned, vulnerable, and at-risk children back home in Uganda.
These boys, and all of the Imani kids, are the most AMAZING Christians I've ever met. Their Faith, Love, Smiles, and Hugs are contagious! I'm much older than them, but they've taught me what it means to be a Christian. I thought I was going to be a blessing to them, but they blessed me and my kids more than I ever thought possible. What used to seem important, doesn't now. They have given me a whole new perspective on life; not living for myself and my personal desires and wants, but living for others, and therefore honoring God!
My Mission Trip to Uganda is in February. While in Uganda, we'll be going to the 8 Imani Milele Schools. At each school we'll find out what they need; food, clothing, shoes, school supplies, etc. We'll go out and purchase the items, and then bring them back to the schools. In addition to items that they NEED, I would like to bring them soccer cleats and balls....something they would WANT! The children of Imani have a deep hunger for 3 things; God, education, and SOCCER! What a blessing it would be to bring joy into their lives, like they brought into mine!
