My mom Kim lost her battle of pain and being sick on Oct. 12, 2013, She was only 54yrs old. She left behind 2 daughters, a grandchild, her mom, and 2 sisters. She was the best mom and friend anyone could ever ask for. She was always right by my side for everything. The past few months she got very sick and her health and weight just spiraled down so fast. The Doctors couldn't figure out that she had Valley Fever for about 6 months. They all thought she had some sort of cancer with all the symptoms she was having. She also had pneumonia which also made her very weak. She was in and out of the hospital for the last few months of her life. On Sept 10th I went to go check on her because her phone was going right to voice mail and that was not normal for her. When I found her she was on the ground. She had fallen and couldn't get up for 2 days. When they took her to the hospital she was down to 85 pounds and they had to intubate her with a breathing machine because she could barely breath on her own. When she got all of the fluids and nutrients back she had lost she started to fight so hard to get back to her old self. She was regaining her strength and was breathing on her own the last week before she got out of the hospital. They moved her to a highly skilled nursing facility where they were doing physical therapy to regain her strength and to get her up and walking and taking care of herself again. The 4th day she was at the facility I received a phone call from one of the nurses there at 5am telling me my mom went into respiratory distress and they had to call 911 for them to take her to the hospital again. I called the hospital and they said her heart stopped on the ride to the hospital and they had to do CPR to bring her back. When she arrived at the hospital she was in a coma. They moved her to the ICU and the Neurologist did several tests and exams on my mom and she didn't respond to anything and was just getting worse. Her brain scans came back and she had severe brain damage to the central part of her brain and they told us she was going to remain a "vegetable" and wouldn't come out of her coma because of how much oxygen was lost to the brain. So I had to make the decision to take her off of life support because my mom had made it clear all her life she wouldn't want to stay that way. It was so hard to let her go. She is no longer in pain or suffering, she also suffered from chronic pain so I know she is in a better place now. I will never forget her laugh and how she always made everything better. She was such a loving person and she will always be in my heart and will be missed so much. I would really appreciate all the help I can get even if its only $1 it still helps. Thank you
