My Mom's Medical Fund

Emergencies happen all the time but when they are unexpected, it can create a burden not only for the person but for the family members as well.

My mom is a hard dedicated wife, mother of 4 girls, student, and full time worker.  She is 3 months shy from graduation in obtaining her masters degree in social work.

On the early afternoon of February 22, my mom expierenced numbness of both of her hands and feet while at work. When she got up to shake it off, she struggled to get around, losing balance with a tremendous lower back pain.  Thinking it was a pulled muscle my mom preoceeded to walk around expierencing a tremendous back pain maiking it difficult for her to walk. She managed to make it to her good friend/co-workers office where my dad was called to come and get her to take her to the hospital. Upon the MRI testing results, it indicated a slipped budged disk that was pressing on her nerve and she needed emergency spinal surgery. After post op surgery my mom's condition worsen, having low heart rate and chest compressions. She was transferred to the heart unit for further testing. The nightmare does not end there.   My mom has lost feeling of her entire left side making her unable to walk or do daily living acitivites on her own. She is in constant pain and is struggling day by day. My mom has been enrolled in intensive physical therapy but doctors have advised my dad that her recovery is going to be very slow due to that she is suffering from Neuropathic pain. They believe that when spinal surgery occured, some nerves were touched causing these complications.  The latested diagnosis is that the MRI preformed showed some abnormalites and has to go for further bone testing.  As for her physical therapy treatment the doctors advised that her recovery could be short term or long term, but by the looks of her diagnosis, her recovery is going to be long and painful.

We beleive in God and have faith that he has control of all things. My little sisters are so lost without her and are having a difficult time understanding what is going on.

My mom is a loving, caring and strong person but I can see that this has created a turmoil. Her faith is in God and believes that he will get her moving and go home to my dad and my sisters.

This fund is to help support any incurred medical bills that will not be covered and future loss of salary wages. This momey will help my dad care for my sisters expenses until my mom is back on her feet and working again.
