Please help Steve Taylor ❤️

Early on Monday November 25th our friend, brother, son, boyfriend and teammate Steve Taylor woke up and went about his business as usual. Like a normal Monday, he got in his van, bid his girlfriend Molly goodbye and began the long journey from his hometown of Stamford, Lincolnshire, for a job in Scotland. Unfortunately, Steve, who is a keen Rugby fan and even played for Wales in his youth, never made that job. After driving for 5 hours, and just 30 miles outside of Glasgow, he was involved in a serious collision.

Steve, who is self-employed, had to be cut from his vehicle that morning and was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow. Upon his arrival he was rushed straightinto Theatre, where he spent the next 10 hours in intensive surgery to stop the bleeding as a result of the accident. As of writing, we are not sure to the full extent of his injuries, though we know he is fighting to stay with us, giving it the full strength and will that his friends and family know him for. What we do know is that he has multiple severe fractures to both Legs, and currently remains in a critical condition in intensive care, where he is being looked after around the clockby the amazing staff of the NHS. We also know that Steve will be going back into surgery imminently to assess the full severity of his injuries.

We may not know the true extent, though it is sadly clear that they are very serious. This means that the road to recovery will be a long and tough one. At the moment, and for the foreseeable future, we expect Steve to be in Glasgow ICU as they fight to get him into a stable condition. Once they have managed to achieve this, Steve will have to face multiple gruelling surgeries, followed by rehabilitation that is expected to last for several months.

In situations like these, as a close-knit community of friends, family and sports clubs, we feel so helpless and want to give whatever help and support we can. We will always be there for each other no matter what’s required, we will do it without hesitation. However, in times like this, it’s extremely difficult to do anything other than be a shoulder for those close to us,and ensure that we are here to support Steve, Molly and their families. This fund is to Support Steve, and those who rely on him, with the many expenses that they will incur during this tough time. This is especially important, considering Steve is self-employed, and does not have the safety net many of us have in our jobs. Both Steve and Molly’s Family are by his side whilst he’s fighting in Glasgow, never venturing far away. Any support, no matter how little, will help with travel, accommodation and time away from employment. Even the smallest amount is appreciated more than these words can say. Although we look towards the future with hope, Steve is a self-employed electrician, and as I’m sure we can all appreciate at this stage, it’s unknown what the future holds from an employment perspective.

We hope that with your help, support and generosity we can alleviate some of the stress that Molly and both families are dealing with. While this won’t change the deeply saddening position, it would be a massive support, especially so close to Christmas. It will allow those close to his side in Glasgow toremain close by and really focus on what matters most – getting the cheeky, active, smiley Steve that we all have so much love for back to good health.

A reminder that although we all know that Christmas is just around the corner, any financial support would be super helpful so we can help Steve look toward his own future Christmases. However, we can’t overstate the importance ofpositive thoughts and prayers at this difficult time, and we all ask that you can keep that at the forefront of your mind. Please, when you have a spare minute, join us and say a little prayer for our Stevie boy.
