Shyrah's Funeral and Daughter Fund

Shyrah was one of 7 children in a family who I mentored while at Auburn University through a program called Project Uplift. The odds always seemed stacked against these innocent children but they are the closest knit family I have known, even though they were all split up into different foster homes for years. Syrah was shot and killed Tuesday outside of her foster home. She was 19, had graduated high school, and had a 3 year old daughter. She had gotten an apartment and was in the process of furnishing it and making a life for her and her baby girl. If Shyrah was successful at anything it was loving and being a great mom to her sweet daughter. I visited Auburn yesterday and the situation is worse than I imagined. There will be a lot of love and healing ahead for these children. Right now they urgently need help with funeral costs. They do not know I am asking for help, as they would be too prideful. Because this is a homicide investigation Shyrah's body is still being kept as evidence, however the funeral is slated for next Saturday. I'd like to raise about 2000 which may cover a very small funeral. The family is fine with the minimal burial service as they know Shyrah is already in heaven and they do not want to be reckless with money, a resource they have very little of. Any additional money will be kept for Shyrahs daughter. I will be setting up a fund for her. Currently she is in a new foster home. God is already working and I am constantly and newly amazed at his faithfulness. This money will go to her new family or be saved for her education.
