July 2021 a group of 20 amateur cyclists will be riding about 1.000km from Zurich to Paris to raise money for cancer research (Charity Kinderkrebsforschung Schweiz), the Swiss childhood cancer research foundation.
Our team will be meeting 2,500 other cyclists from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland, and Germany upon arrival in Paris. We’ll be wearing matching yellow outfits and riding matching yellow Bianchi bikes, but most importantly, we’ll all be riding to raise money and awareness for children with critical illnesses.
The joy of arriving and then be able to donate a total amount of hopefully more than 10.000.000 EUR, makes the effort of 7 days on a bike all worth while.
Though 2021 is the first year a team from Switzerland will complete the ride to Paris, we did actually train and plan for 2020 as well but COVID19 put an end to that dream.
The team managed to collect CHF 72.466 for this charity from the Swiss team,.
The handover of these funds was documented on the below picture.
The overall foundation, Team Rynkeby (Team Rynkeby – Hohes C in Switzerland) was founded in 2002 when 11 amateur cyclists rode from Denmark to Paris to watch the final stage of the Tour de France. They initially collected money with the goal of funding their trip, but their efforts were so successful that they had a profit of over 5,000 Euros by the end. They donated the money to the children’s cancer unit at a local hospital, and from there, a tradition was born! The organization has continued to grow since that initial ride – in 2019, the team was composed of 2000 cyclists from 7 European countries and donated 10.6 million Euros to organizations that help children with critical illnesses.
Each one of us knows someone who has been affected by cancer, and we are motivated to do our part in advancing cancer research in Switzerland.
PLEASE SUPPORT US IN KICKING CHILDHOOD CANCER SOME ASS!
All contributions are welcomed and appreciated by the entire team!
