Peb Txiv - Our Father

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that our family informs all of you of our beloved Father’s sudden passing. On August 24th, 2017, our Father Chue Vang Xiong was admitted to North Memorial Medical Center due to chest pain and other health complications. The two biggest concerns were that our father may have contracted TB or developed some form of lung cancer. After numerous tests were administered, the tests for both TB and lung cancer came back negative. Our family was relieved and for a moment, we were hopeful and positive that he would soon recover and overcome his illness. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Our father was diagnosed with a fungal infection in his lungs. Due to this, his lungs grew too weak to breath on its’ own. We made a decision as a family to put our father on a ventilator to support him in hopes that it would help him regain strength. Regrettably as the days past, his condition worsened. The fungal infection had taken over our father’s lungs and his lungs were not able to overcome the infection. Our father fought very hard for his life but at 2:50 am on September 20th, 2017, he took his last breath and his heart beat for the very last time.

Those of you who know our father knew he was an incredible man. He has the biggest heart. He left behind shoes that will never be filled and a legacy that will never be forgotten. He showed us he loved us through his actions and his unending commitment to providing for his family. He did his best to make sure his children were successful. He leaves behind 6 sons and 6 daughters. Of his 6 sons, 2 have mental disabilities and are unaware that our father has passed. His second youngest son, who is 18 years old has just entered his first year of college and is trying very hard to focus on school while mourning the loss of his father. As for his youngest son, he has just started 5th grade and is only 10 years old. Of his 6 daughters, 4 are married and have children of their own. Our father has 12 grandchildren, 8 grandsons and 4 granddaughters and another grandson on the way. Our father has only 1 sister and 1 half-brother that are in Laos. Our close relatives are very few but our father had many friends.

His passing was extremely sudden and unexpected. He was a very healthy man, due to this we thought we would still have many years with him and therefore didn't get a chance to buy life insurance for him. With his sudden passing it's left our family with the unexpected cost of his funeral that we were not prepared for. With that said, every donation counts.
