Help support Mary Gast

Mary has been in and out of the hospital since August 13th 2017. She was first hospitalized with bacteremia or infection in her blood. After numerous tests with no answers, she was discharged home with a PICC line and 2 weeks of IV antibiotics. For the next week following discharge, she continued to feel sick without any improvements. After repeat testing and numerous changes in her medications she was found to have the infection back in her blood. She was admitted again and was found to have vegetation or infection on her mechanical heart valve. She was discharged after a week stay with another PICC line and 6 weeks of planned antibiotics. She was planned to meet with a cardiothoracic surgeon on the 20th of Septemeber to undergo open heart surgery to replace her infected heart valve. On September 9th, she became very weak and uncoordinated. She was rushed to the ER and was found to have a brain bleed, or hemorrhagic stroke. Overnight the bleed increased in size and so on the 10th she was rushed off to have a craniotomy, a surgery to her brain, where they removed a large blood clot. She remains intubated in the SCCU. Mary has a long road ahead of her. She still needs to have her heart valve replaced when she is able to tolerate another procedure. Mary has been out of work for over a month and the road is still very unclear. Any amount is so appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts- The Gast Family
