College Housing for Georgia

When Georgia was twelve years old, her father was robbed and killed. Georgia's mother was and still is, a minimum wage earner. After her father died, Georgia lived with her Grandmother in California for a while, but eventually joined her mother and twin brothers in Silverton Idaho. The educational system there was an amazingly good one, and Georgia excelled. However, most days she came home to a refrigerator with lots of beer, and minimal food. By her third year of high school, she started working about thirty hours a week in order to buy groceries and other necessities for her brothers and herself. She maintained a 4.0 grade average and was president of her senior class, prom queen and head cheerleader. She received several awards for scholastic achievement and scholarships for college.

In the following fall she started Junior college at North Idaho College in Coeur d' Alene Idaho. It has taken her three years to finish her two year degree while working full time. Her GPA for those three years was 3.77. Her student loan debt, at this time, is ten thousand dollars. She is now starting her junior year, and has chosen business as her major at the Lewis-Clark State College in Coeur d' Alene. She is working three jobs and taking a full class load, plus trying to help her brothers. After her dad died, Georgia assumed the mother role of caring for and protecting her family, including her mother.

Currently, Georgia is trying to qualify for an apartment near her college campus for her younger brother and herself. Her credit is good, but it is doubtful that her income will be considered adequate for a rental lease. The house she has shared for several years with her mother and brothers is no longer affordable and her mother has moved else where. Georgia needs a place to live.

Georgia's grandmother, who has provided some financial support in the past, but can no longer afford that support, wishes to provide Georgia with a year of apartment housing near the college campus. Ten thousand dollars for an apartment would get Georgia through another year, and would be a tremendous help in her journey toward attaining a BS in business.
