A Heart For Haiti

Donation protected
Going to Haiti means the world to me! I have always had the passion for helping and serving others, especially the little children. Ever since the devastating earthquake hit Haiti, I have felt lead to go and help. I wanted to go in 2010, when it happened, but my family was already in route to Ghana, West Africa, to do mission work.

I always felt like God had put Haiti on my heart, and it has not changed for the past 3 years. This year, I was so excited because, at my school, we were asked to pick where we wanted to go for spring term missions and Haiti was on the list. As I thought to myself I am not really sure, but then I had this feeling like God was telling me " This is where I am leading you to go and help the people of Haiti, most of all the children".

I have lived in Ghana, West Africa, for most of my life and I was taught one of the most important things is to love God by serving and taking care of others and God will return the favor. I was around all kinds of children who were in need and when I would ask them what is the one thing that you wish you had? They would respond by saying; someone to love me, and someone that I can love on. Others would say, I just want some food, water, a home, or clothes. I mean if you think about it, these are little things that we take for granted everyday and that is basically all that those kids really wanted and wished for. Sometimes just by spending time with them and showing them you care makes a world of difference.

I have always had the passion to help children and serve around the world even if it means I don't get a single thing for it. It makes me feel good inside because I am doing what God has lead and given me the passion for.

We are traveling Friday, March 21 "“ 28, 2014 and here is a little rundown of what we will be doing in Haiti:

We are partnering with Joshua Expeditions, which is an amazing organization. Their goal and mission is to help people who are in need and provide food for the hungry. Every year they take a group of kids to go and serve, we are very fortunate that we are partnering with them this year. There are about 20 high school students on our team with three teachers.

We are staying in Port-au-Prince and every day we will head to the local community of Leveque where permanent homes are being built for families displaced by the 2010 earthquake. We will visit the families living in temporary shelters to share the Gospel and pray for them. We will be painting newly finished homes, building porches, digging and planting the landscape, and ministering to the community. We will also gather all the local children for games, songs, and also share the Gospel with them, bringing them lots of love and hope for a brighter future. I will also be taking some special packages for the children. Our day will conclude with dinner, devotions, and evening worship at the mission facility.

I can't wait to go and serve on this mission, I am working on this daily and
I am hoping that you would open your heart and help me serve the children of Haiti
::I am grateful for any support you can give , it would mean the world to me.

Thank you in advance for your support,
Dominique
