Prayers for Ken!

As many of you know, Ken collapsed while helping extinguish a small grain fire at WFS on Friday, February 5th.  While St. James FD arrived on scene, the first responders were able to initiate CPR, as Ken was unresponsive.  He was transported by St. James ambulance to MCHS-SJ where the medical staff diligently attempted to revive him.  They continued CPR for 45 minutes, along with defibrillation, and were able to stabilize him enough to be airlifted to St Mary's Hospital in Rochester.  He underwent tests and procedures to determine what caused him to go unresponsive.  The care team determined he suffered cardiac arrest from an arrhythmia of unknown origin. He was immediately placed in a hypothermia protocol, cooling his body to 96 degrees, allowing his brain to rest and promote recovery. The next 24-48 hours will be very critical in order for us to determine his neurological status.  We know Ken is a fighter and he has amazed us with his ability to stay with us so far.   The family has set up a Caringbridge site to keep everyone updated... http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/kenbesel

The Besel family is one of those families that you just don't come by everyday!  They are like a second family to me and I want nothing more than to help them in any way possible... and I know there are so many people out there that are wishing the same thing!  They will be facing many unknowns as they go into the following days and weeks.  The Besels would do anything for anyone without question, so let's show them our love and support and help with the expenses that will occur along this journey.  Please join me in supporting this wonderful family as they help keep Ken fighting.
