Check out my Video from my free laundry days. I hope to offer more free wash days in the spring.
Here is the CPR, First Aid and AED class I sponsored for the kids in my community. Many of us feel that we don't have anything to do so I used my graduation money to send them to training this past summer. Now we call ourselves, "The Lifesavers". I also started a teen book club encouraging teens to read, read, read. The first book we read was "The Hate You Give". Once we finished the book we went to see the movie. All I can say is...WOW! Both my mom and I just love Common.https://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/daily-southtown/news/ct-sta-slowik-jayera-griffin-donations-st-1213-story.html
Click on this link to see where I donated $1000 to the school district by collection donations. There are 7 elementary schools in my district plus my high school. We are pretty smart, we just need a little more help to be successful.https://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/daily-southtown/opinion/ct-sta-slowik-free-wash-day-st-0405-20180404-story.html
While tutoring kids in the National Junior Honor Society, I noticed that some kids clothes were not as clean as they could be. That made me start the Free Community Laundry Day. Many of the kids told me how happy they were to have clean clothes at school and that made me very happy too.
My partnership with Cruise Control offered free skating for kids ages 3-18. We are working very hard to give young people in the community something to do. We are still skating on Tuesday nights but only a few have been coming. Won't you come out and skate with me. It's free!
