Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Shortly after getting marrried in July my life took a drastic change for the worse. I began having severe abdominal pain, so I seeked medical help to figure out what was going on. An ultrasound discovered gal stones in my gal bladder and questionable lesions on my liver. This raised concern for more testing, after several CT scans, blood work, and a liver biopsy they have concluded the I have Cholangiocarcinoma (A rare liver cancer of the bile ducts). We needed to make sure that the cancer had not spread anywhere else. My doctor ordered a P.E.T. scan which would show if there is any cancer cells growing in other parts of the body in addition to an MRI. My doctors and I had high hopes the cancer was contained in my liver, but the PET scan reveiled an active site on my tailbone. This news was devestating, but we stayed positive that is was not cancerous. I had another biopsy of my tail bone which was incredibly painful, and went home waiting for the news which would determine my plan of treatment. The results came back positive for cancer, this placed me in stage 4, the cancer is not cureable. Everyday I struggle to stay positive which I know is one of the most important things for me now. As for treatment, instead of having surgery to remove the effected part of my liver, we now need to start chemotherapy immediatly to get the cancer under control. What we do know is my kidneys, lungs, colon, esophagus, and stomach are clear of cancer which is about the only good news I have heard since the start of this terrifying journey. The pain has made it impossible to work,  but all the meication I am taking makes life tolerable. The road to recovery moving forward begins with extensive chemotherapy for six months, and possibly an exprimental trial for the rare cancer. Any money made from gofundme will be used for the immediate chemotherapy treatment. My family and I will be forever grateful for any help received during this hard time. At this point, we understand now it is a battle that I will have to endure for the rest of my life, but with the support of my friends and family I stride to make the best of everyday.
