Unearthing Justices Community Support Fund

In support of MMIWG2S+ people, Indigenous families and communities have been navigating the impacts of colonial violence with resilience, strength, compassion, and humility. Indeed, many reports have documented how the police and a “criminal” justice system have been either absent or destructive in Indigenous communities and lives.

As we urge the public and elected officials to invest in communities and ensure the minimum standards of health, safety, economic security, and cultural well being for the MMIWG2S+ and Indigenous communities, the immediate and direct costs and loss must also be addressed.

This Fundraiser is to recognize and support the vast and creative work and initiatives of Indigenous communities in support of the MMIWG2S+ people, as evidenced in the 500+ Unearthing Justices Resource Collection .

How to Access the Fund
If you are an Indigenous person(s) or group working in support of the MMIWG2S+, we invite you to apply for a one time $200 stipend to recognize and support your efforts. You can apply through this Application Form

Fund Distribution

Funds will be distributed by e-transfer or money order on a “first come, first served” basis, for as long as funds are available. The fund is created based on a shared trust system to avoid barriers and invasive questions for applicants. If you are applying, we trust that the need is real.

Who are the Fund Organizers
The Centre for Justice Exchange, in collaboration with Tears4Justice, is a collective of academics, students and volunteers who seek to create more inclusive understandings and practices of justice and accountability. We achieve this through 1) collaborative projects, 2) public education and the 3) sharing of resources.

Important Note
While we provide periodic updates of the number of people served by this fund, we will never publish the names or details of the recipients.

Thank you for sharing and helping us learn, grow and create better understandings of the what justice is and needs.
