Help Nick Fight Cholangiocarcinoma

If you don't know me, my name is Nick Roberts. I am 33 years old and live in Trussville,AL. I have a wife and two children, Kasey (Louisville,KY) is my loving wife, and Parker Lee (5) and Tyler Duke (3) are my two strong willed boys. I graduated from Springville High School in 2002 where I was blessed with a scholarship to play football at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. I played Quarterback for GWU for four years and was team captain. I graduated from GWU in 2007, where I was once blessed by God to have the opportunity to play Professional Arena Football in Louisville, KY with the Louisville Fire. I played two years where I met my bride to be. After ball, we moved to Birmingham to start our careers and family. I am now Executive Director for Comfort Care Home Health in Pelham, Al.On 9/8/2017, I was unofficially diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, a very aggressive cancer that originated in the bile duct within the liver. This obviously sent our little world into confusion and fear with what we thought would be a simple emergency room visit. We think this cancer is a result of me being diagnosed with Crohns Disease 7 years ago. At this time, there are still a lot of unknowns but what we do know and are extremely thankful to God for is that we were able to get an appointment with the leading Cholangiocarcinoma physician in the world at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. As we understand, patience will be a must and there will be many,many trips to Houston, TX. There are several treatment options for this type of cancer which is all dependent on location, staging, and health status. Kasey and I are asking family, friends, strangers who will become angels, and anyone who would like to help us fight this and beat this cancer by donating anything you can. These funds will be used for transportation, lodging, and treatment costs to fight this cancer.I pledge to everyone who gives and helps us in this time of need that you will never go friendless, you will be cherished, and you will be equipping this soldier of God to share his testimony of love and support to others, and share the power of our Father above. The Good Lord has already showed His power in the past 3 days such as being accepted to MD Anderson by a Birmingham based physician whom I have never met hearing my story and contacting Dr. Javle at MDA to ask if he would accept me as a patient. Within 24 hours, the appointment was being set for October 17. However, when the doctor found out it was more than a month away, he himself asked the appointment to moved up immediately to as soon as next week. To God be all the glory. I am so humbled by all of this and plan to thank each and every one of you for prayers and financial support. God is humbling me only to strengthen me to send me out to His work and share my powerful testimony of our gracious, loving God. As of June 2018, I have been accepted into a Phase 2 clinical trial that is chemotherapy based. Phase 1 results showed positive results for people with like diagnosis. This trial will require more frequent travel to Houston as well as additional non-covered expenses from insurance company. The amount of support God has provided us though our friends and family is simply unbelievable! My prayer is God using me and this testimony to bring lost brothers and sisters to His kingdom!
