Vet Bill Assistance - Dollar The Dog

Donation protected

UPDATE 9/13 10AM: Katie is at UGA with Dollar Belle, and thankfully someone called in to donate directly to her care there. I have updated the goal of this campaign based on their estimates for her stay + surgery. $4,000 is the conservative estimate. She will need 3 different xrays at $100 each + IV treatment. They have said it's likely she has pneumonia due to the blockage in her throat and has trouble breathing which is why she weezes which sounds like dry heaving. So she will need oxygen. She will most likely require surgery after the xrays. The staff at UGA is super understanding but they do need 50% up front to be able to admit her and get started on what she needs. Just 4 days on oxygen and IV will cost $1,500. It's worth noting that their prices are VERY fair (esp. compared to the emergency vet who also wanted 75% up front), their staff is very specialized, and they are truly awesome people who want to help. We are asking that people call in to UGA directly because GoFundMe takes a small percentage of funds and can take up to 8 days to be transferred to a bank account. But we will accept ANY help in ANY form. Their number is [phone redacted]

Here is another video update from Katie: https://www.facebook.com/katie.stacy.39/videos/10213930384719622/

Dollar was found in a Dollar General parking lot emaciated and scared. She can barely walk or sit - she doesn't put any weight on her back legs except for balance. They shake when she walks, stands or sits. She is literally skin and bones.

We found out through her emergency vet visit last night 9/12/17 and this morning that she has an esophageal issue, either Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) which can be fixed with surgery, or Megaesophagus which is not curable but manageable through a special feeding chair and extra TLC.

Soon after the roads clear she is headed to UGA where she will undergo more xrays and possible exploratory surgery + corrective surgery. So far because of the incredibly kind donations of others, we raised enough for her vet bill for overnight/this morning and to cover some of her UGA costs. We cannot thank people enough for caring about this sweet stray like we do.

We are hoping she will only need the xrays and some extra TLC. We may have enough to cover that. If she does need surgery, it will be expensive and 50% of her total care estimate will be required up front. If that's the case, we may be almost halfway to that cost.

Through all that she's been sweet as ever to people trying to help her. She wags her tail and will slowly, carefully walk over to you and sit in your lap. She will rest her head on your leg or arm. She will even make the painful movements to roll onto her back for a belly rub.

She is in dire need. We could not let her stay out in the weather with Hurricane Irma bearing down on us. We couldn't wait and see if she would get better in time. We couldn't take the cheaper path or try to dump her at a shelter or rescue when they're already full and overflowing with evacuees. Any amount donated goes directly toward her hospital bill or future visits. Anything we receive we have posted receipts for anonymously for transparency. We are bystanders who couldn't sit by to do nothing or risk her life to save money. We need your help.
