Louise's Fight Has Just Begun

Donation protected
On the morning of the 15th of August Louise woke up very unwell with the bug that had been going around, mid morning things starting taking a horrible turn. Louise had a seizure, and because of her history was was air lifted to Townsville hospital. It was found on arrival after testing her brain tumour had returned so she was taken for emergency surgery to remove what they could. When they went in the found her tumour had come back probably a stage 3/4 and very aggressive. Not long in ICU she started to have a brain bleed and was rushed back in to surgery. She had a 50/50 chance of making it through the night and she did. On the Wednesday morning Louise was doing surprisingly well, even the doctor were impressed. She was responding to questions of wriggle your toes, squeeze my hand. But then it took a turn for the worst and from the trauma, her brain was swelling and was getting worse. Her mum and brother flew up from Bundaberg to be with her too. After more testing the family were told there was nothing more medically they could do for her and they expected her to have another bleed and this could be the end. It was suggested to say goodbyes. This was heart breaking news and it was decided to bring her kids in to see her for possible the last time. The doctors did not expect her to last the weekend and were giving a very grim picture with no hope. The doctors wanted to leave her heavily sedated over the weekend, to allow the swelling to reduce which they did. On the Sunday they lifted the sedation, with no responses from Louise. After testing the doctors said they did not expect there to be much change. Louise had no change during a very long week, and for her family the information the doctors were giving was so gut wrenching. But Her Husband Dion was by her side the whole time, and certain she was still in there. Late on Friday night the 25th the family were called in as the doctors thought she was going to pass, But they underestimated Louise. On Saturday the 26th of August after a long 11 days, and 6 days with no sedation Louise opened her eyes! Now began the fight to come back. It started with hand squeezing, to thumbs up, very quiet talking as After 11 days with no movement Louise would have to learn to do everything again. She is getting better daily but has a long road ahead to be well enough for treatment to begin on her tumour. She has been returned to Cairns Hospital to do her Rehab so she is closer to her family. As her family's only income is the small business this is going to take a great financial toll. Dion has been by her side the whole time. His mum Lucie is looking after their 3 children Isabel 5 1/2 Pia who will be 4 at the end of September and Myles who just turned 1. And Dion's dad George is helping him keep the business going. But the costs are going to start piling up Rehab, travel for the family, reduced income, extra care for the kids. And the question on when the treatment for the brain tumour begins. Louise's future is uncertain as the tumour is still there and growing but every day is a bonus at this point. But we know she is here and this family needs your help. Please help us to lighten the burden and help the family enjoy what time they have it could be 6 months, it could be 5 years we don't know but we do know they need your help. Any way you can support is appreciated thank you.
