Dennis Kirchdoerfer

Dennis’s journey started November 2016 when he went to the hospital  following another heart attack. He was scheduled for open heart surgery, but with all the pre-testing leading to surgery they found a shadow  on the X-ray that was taken of his chest, which lead the physicians to continue doing more testing to see what it was .  The scans they did confirmed it to be a tumor on his right lung and was confirmed lung cancer. Doing a biopsy on his lung Dennis suffered another heart attack. After months of going back and fourth to Wilkes-Barre his open heart surgery was canceled due to the cancer. So they ended up doing a surgery on his carotid artery that was 80%  blocked. Needles to say the doctors did not give up and they continued chemotherapy and lots of other testing ,the pet scans & MRI showed his tumor shrank a little which brought some hope back to his mind, but the Pet Scan they did showed the cancer to spread to other parts of his body, the liver being one of them. This caused mom and dad to travel back and fourth to Wilkes-Barre for more test. The next scan showed the cancer had spread to his brain which was to small to operate on but was large enough to do radiation. Two weeks of radiation to his brain left him very intense fatigue and hair loss. A repeated MRI showed the radiation to be effective and the spot on his brain went away! Over the course of a month he started getting weaker was coughing up blood so more test were ordered, at that point the test confirmed the tumor on the lung had gotten bigger as well as the one on the liver and spread to his bones. Two weeks ago could bearly walk was coughing up more blood and was having so much pain on the right side under his armpit at which mom called the ambulance and he was transported back to Wilkes-Barre with pneumonia . The medication they were giving him was only subsiding the pain a little but was giving him a really bad headache, after being in the hospital for several days they let him come home and now they are dealing with traveling back and fourth to Wilkes-Barre for the next 10-15 days for intense radiation treatments.

My dad and mom are stressed and tiered we are trying help them get through some of the costs they have been enduring for over a year. All proceeds will go to them in hopes of making them comfortable for the winter months in there home.  As most of you know my dad and mom are very proud and would never ask for help but they have no idea  that we set up this go fund me page and all we want for them is just to have a piece of mind for the long winter months any little bit will help. He is sick and mom is tiered but they are very strong willed and I know god has a plan.  May god bless all of you for your kind words and prayers over the past year it will never be forgotten!
