With broken hearts we share, that after a lengthy battle with cancer, Darlene Belanger (nee Riopelle) passed away on Saturday March 28, 2020 at 11:50 pm.
Darlene was born on April 29, 1973 in Ottawa, to Doreen and (the late) Raymond Riopelle. She grew up in a loving family with her siblings Tracy, Raymond and sister-in-law, Lisa. On June 9, 2001 she married her love, Marcel Belanger. They have two beautiful children, Mya and Noah. Darlene let it always be known that they were her greatest blessings.
Darlene will be dearly missed by her extended family members - aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews. And forever remembered by her dearest friends.
Darlene is known for her infectious good spirit, her extreme kindness and as the giver of the best hugs. She was a “glass half full kind of lady” who found the positivity in everything even when faced with life’s toughest adversities. She was adventurous and fun – optimistic and always willing to take risks and try new things. She would help anyone in need and did it with fierce determination. She was someone you always wanted in your corner.
The Belanger and Riopelle family would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank the community, friends, and neighbours for their tremendous support of dropping off food, donations and sharing kind words throughout this difficult time.
We would also like to thank the staff of the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus and the Queensway Carleton Hospital who took great care of her.
A memorium in this beautiful lady’s honour will be arranged for the family once the COVID-19 provisions have been lifted. You are welcome to offer condolences on this page and in lieu of flowers, donations to support Mya and Noah’s education can be made here.
