Gut Bustas Rebuild

Donation protected
This past Labor Day, at 8:15pm, we received the phone call every business owner has nightmares about.  Our BBQ shack was engulfed in flames. The property owner told us not to rush, because it was already 'fully involved'.  When we arrived shortly after, the fire was quelled, but crews were still there dousing the remaining embers.  When the crews finally cleared, we saw the full extent of the damage... extensive. The shack, the smoke shack and smoker, and our beloved little trailer were all a total loss.

With all of that said, it actually could have been worse. It looks like the fire was put out in time to save a some of our equipment, and some of the wood is reusable for the new shack. Yes, the new shack - we may be down but we are certainly not out!

Gut Bustas is not just our business, but our passion. We have poured our hearts and souls into building that place, just to have it taken away by fire.

Within 48 hours of the fire, we had the entire place cleaned up, and remodeling started.  We are already in the process of transforming the camper that was behind us into the new kitchen.  It needs a lot of work, and we need help.

That little place has had an amazing run.  I can't even begin to count the number of people and entire families we know by name, and have formed friendships with over the years.  Feeding good food to good people is what makes us happy.  We are not ready to quit. We want to come back bigger and better than what that little trailer could handle, and we want to do it within a month.

Our goal is to be back up and running during the first week of October.  It is solely because of all of you who have supported us that it exists, and has for so long.  That is why it is not easy to ask for help, but it is necessary.

We have to build an entire kitchen - electricity, gas lines, ceiling, floor, walls, sinks, etc, and it all has to be done to meet local health codes.  We need to rebuild the entire shack, the smoke shack (metal, this time), and build a new smoker.  New refrigerators will have to be purchased, as those did not make it through the fire.  We will need to repurchase all of our stock to reopen when the time comes, and we need to do all of this with no income.  It will be a busy month, but with your help, we'll be back soon - even better than before - for your good old' country cooking needs!

We thank you all in advance for anything you can do during this tumultuous time, as we're still trying to wrap our heads around this and pick up the pieces.
