Replace our Oil Boiler w/a Pellet Boiler

When we started Mayberry Hill Preschool in 1978 one of our goals was to be self sufficient and try to do more with less, recycling, reusing and reducing the amount of oil we were using and burn wood instead. We had three wood hot air furnaces that we went onto a neighbors wood lot and cut between 15 and 20 cords of wood. We did this for five years. Then two things happened the wood lot was sold to be part of a subdivision and Kelley was elected to the Maine Legislature and served on the Health, Energy and Environment committees. We installed three oil hot air furnaces so Barbara would not have to spend all winter in the basement stoking the furnaces. At this time we started reading about HS Tarm wood boilers and then in the late 90's a pellet or biofuel boiler. We decided that a pellet boiler was the safest, healthiest, and most environmentally sound choice for our home and Mayberry Hill Preschool. The problem then as it is now a pellet boiler cost three times as much as a top of the line oil boiler. Now the Efficiency Maine program is offering $5000 rebates towards an installation cost of $22000. We are asking for your help to raise as much of the $17000 dollars as possible. Any size donation will help. Our school started with the same number of children we have today 30. That's 30 families a year for 35 years or 1050 total children have had the great opportunity to start their education with Barbara & Kelley in a great facitlity like Overlook Farm practicing organic intensive gardening, small animal care, reusing and recycling all school materials and keeping our tuition low and affordable by making as many of the things we needed and doing our own building, maintenance and repairs. Our tuition for one child coming for one year is $7200 for 50 wks all day. Head start's is over $10000 for 10 months. Casco kindergarden is $14[phone redacted]0 for 10 months. And a typical full day program in a Portland preschool between $10000-$12000. We do not just offer a better eductional experience, we do it for almost half the cost of public schools and other private preschools. Won't you help us lower our costs even more?($230 for a ton of pellets $$355 for 100 gallons of oil.) This way we can go another 4 decades of providing the Lakes Region's children with best preschool experience to start their young lives.
